Hi,
I fell down the same trap in reclaiming my existing DNS records but then found some help online ( I think it was from Rosy ) that said that if you just claimed your existing subdomain then you would get your legacy DNS entries back into the portal. I did that, cancelled the original six tickets I put in for the individual entries and now have access to my existing records which will let me delete any existing entries and add new ones.

From the portal manual at https://www.ardc.net/wp-content/uploads/portal-2.0-technical-documentation-v3.3-20240401.pdf it then looks like I will have the ability to edit records when they are created in the new system.

Less tickets in the system = less backlog hopefully :)

Alistair,

I agree that 23 tickets seems extreme. I had 21 A Records and 2 CNAME Records. In order to do anything I have to hit the "Claim" button. That creates a ticket for each instance.

I just want to note that's not the work I need to perform. I need to actually edit the records themselves.

Razvan,

I see you noted DNS hosting. Thank you for your generosity!

- I understood AMPR.ORG to be for Amateur use, if that's changed I may consider another domain
- I actually have a domain and use Hurricane Electric for its hosting - these are actually the CNAMES I need to edit (I buy a new $0.99 registration annually and need to update them)
- It seems you're in YO land - I think that distance may cause issues I've mentioned in other topics

I run DNS-MDC, so I'm OK in the DNS hosting - I just need to verify the domain itself is usable (i.e. AMPR.ORG).

I do have to ask: Why do you have 23 tickets? Surely, this can be combined into less and reduce the workload on the already overstretched ARDC team...

All,

I'm not really sure why others are replying to my emails mentioning callsign verification. From my Portal profile:

Call sign:
KB3VWG
Call sign verified Wed, 10 Apr 2024 19:07:09 +0000

That's not the issue I noted in my emails. Nonetheless, this has kinda proven to me that there's something going on at ARDC.

Again:

"I still haven't received a response about the 23 tickets that are pending and unassigned - which is seems are needed to do my normal annual DNS work (BTW - which seems will require MORE tickets)."

I'm not sure if my emailed are not being received or if there's other intent. Nonetheless I received a similar email about callsign verification off-reflector from Dave. I guess nobody is willing to answer - or they don't understand. I apologize if I'm not effectively communicating the issue.

I appreciate the time people took to reply. If AMPR.ORG is no longer available, I'll use another domain.

It would also be good to have your information correct with the FCC, or other government agency, that issues your license.

If we find any conflicting information, we are simply rejecting the application. At this time, we are not going to send out post cards or use other methods to verify addresses. Mainly due to the costs involved. The cost of sending out a simple post card, is typically over $2. There are hundreds of addresses needing verification.
