There should be no need for debate about whether SSID meets the requirements. 97.119(b)(3) applies. So long as the ID is sent with the same modulation type and encoding as the transmission type in use then the identification requirements are met. As far as WiFi is concerned, if the frequencies in use are not amateur bands and the equipment isn’t modified, then Part 97 doesn’t apply and an amateur radio callsign is purely optional.

It is simple enough to create an ID program that fires off a UDP packet with identification information in the clear on a periodic basis.
