hi, yes, i use a pair here for an occasional link from 44.155.16.58
(the shack, folded dipole) to 44.155.16.60 (the car, roof mounted
1/4wave). barefoot, without external amp it works for a couple of miles
well enough to send email, use a text based browser, ssh, etc.
unless carelessly exposing the config page: i don't see an attack surface,
so i have no qualms hooking it up to 44. the mandatory use of the internal
dhcp seems a bit quirky at first, but works reliably. the latest firmware
is a must, or the ethernet will insist on 10mhz-fd only and will not talk
to an auto negotiated 100mhz interface.
latency isn't the hottest, but still way better than ax25 semiduplex.
i haven't observed packetloss -provided there is a good rf signal both
ways.
happy to help further, 73 de stefan, ei4ku
