Both methods have their advantages/disadvantages, I think.
That's what I do here and for the same reasonings. For EastNet it's
working quite efficiently and if for whatever reason UCSD is not
reachable or one of the secondary servers fails when queried (some of
our nodes are still 1200 baud so speed is of the essence) this insures
resolution still works.
