Hello,
to install open vpn follow the document:
https://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/documentation/howto.html#quick
in short:
cd /etc/openvpn
edit vars file to your settings
*source ./vars ./clean-all./build-ca*
*./build-key-server server*
*./build-dh*
*openvpn --genkey --secret ta.key*
copy the 3 files attached to /etc/openvpn/ folder.
*1) every client will get 44 ip address.*
* for this way you need to change the file server.conf in line:
**server 10.9.0.0 255.255.255.0 change to your segment.*
change client.ovpn file line start with remote to the openvpn server ip.
script create-client.sh will create client certificate and zip file in
/tmp with all files needed to transfer to the client.
if the client is linux and not windows, change client.ovpn to client.conf.
hope that help,
fill free to contact me for more help.

Brian, thanks for the update.
I know I asked before on how to build openvpn server keys and other
configuration details that will let a openvpn server I build work with
any hams lotw key clients that has previously documented:
http://wiki.ampr.org/wiki/AMPRNet_VPN
This is what I have built my own generated certificate authority,
server keys, with before using the
./clean-all
./build-ca
./build-key-server server
./build-key client1
./build-dh
I could really use something detailed on the values for the keys and
certificates parameters to make a server work with the lotw based keys
Its not clear to me where one gets the the LoTW root CA certificate(s)
that need to be installed on the server. And I assume these are
Diffie hellman parameters?
