With this scheme, I guess we pick anything that starts
with 310?
If this becomes popular, we will need more coordination. Have you
considered deriving ASN from AMPR IPv4 allocations?
The USA would use 4231000000 to 4231699999, that's 700,000 ASNs.
We will soon
publish the exact ranges in use and I will publish the URL here
asap.
If anybody of you is already using ASNs from the ranges mentioned above,
please let me know. Nothing is written in stone, so we can still rearrange
our setup HI :-).
We are only using the public ASN 54688 so far.
ASNs registered with a RIR are of course perfectly OK. However not
everybody has the necessary $$$ to pay for it.
If someone of
you is interested to setup a BGP session on the existing IPIP
tunnel or on a dedicated IPIP, GRE, ... tunnel, please also get in touch
with me.
I think Bart AE7SJ wanted to experiment with BGP routing in
conjunction with some state-aware tunnel. I think he's away from email
for the weekend, so you may not see him comment for a few days.
We can support any of the suggested tunnel protocols, and also accept
non-encapsulated packets, if your upstream provider lets to send from
44/8 source addresses.
Get in touch with me privately and we can discuss the possibilities.
