True, good point, and I am a case in point, my BGP connected subnet
only
hosts Internet facing services, mainly Echolink proxies. I've also
added an Echolink conference or two, now that I'm not IP constrained
anymore. I use IPIP tunneling at home to connect myself to the mesh,
BGP on the VPS for service provision. I should setup an OpenVPN tunnel
between the two just to improve the routing for my subnet to the server.
I believe a significant number of people who have AMPRNet addresses
and are BGP-connected really don't care much about communicating
with other IPIP mesh-connected hosts; their interest is the rest
of the Internet.
Since there's no way to capture flow data for these folks, we'll
never know where their traffic is going. All we can do is guess
from anecdotal data.
Yeah, that would be hard to gather data without running a
survey of all
who have registered a directly connected subnet.
