I have recently taken to using a private address block (192.168.x.x) for
the VPN and then routing subnets over those private addresses.

Under OpenVPN you see what addresses you want sent to a client in the ccd

Vultr has their BGP setup very well documented.

Also I see many are using open vpn. Why open vpn as opposed to say
IPSec, l2tp,
ike2. Those that have preceded me down this road of bgp
announcing your subnet ( or having your isp announce it for you) then using
a Linux vpn server to connect your endpoints how did you do it once you had
the loa in hand and why did you choose the software and methods you did?
