I checked some of my notes, the following packages are needed on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS to run RIP44d:

included on a base installation: - perl - perl-base - perl-modules

must be added: - libio-socket-multicast-perl - libio-interface-perl

'sudo apt-get install libio-socket-multicast-perl libio-interface-perl'
