The clients I use (xchat and Limechat) are not totally compatible and you have to set the
port number to be used.
So, in my case, I am using CONVERS and fudging the clients to work.

So is this saying that the
ampr.net CONVERS system is using the same
protocol are IRC and any clients are compatible - or are various
groups using IRC instead of non-CONVERS servers for local chat rooms?
