Hi,
Is anyone still using CONVERS? I can only see autologged-in sysops in all channels and no users.

Also, is the Linux versions of the TPP server still available? We're trying to turn on a couple servers out here in Western Washington. Seems to be some historical documents and references but the links to the download pages go nowhere.
Thank you, Bill, WA7NWP
Hi Bill,
It seems as if the CONVERS system has been abandoned!

I'm still using it from time to time.
Hmmm. Maybe we could actually revive the system... Starting with a messenger-style window client to sit in the notification area.

Hi Marius,
I still use colrconv in a terminal here which is OK, but not so appealing to the young ones who would prefer an X-windows style application, but our problem is users really, not a fance app! hi hi hi!!!

As long as we don't have an attractive client, in line with modern operating habits, there is no appeal to use convers. People will opt for YM, skype and other nice apps. Give them a decent client and they will appear.

So is this saying that the ampr.net CONVERS system is using the same protocol are IRC and any clients are compatible - or are various groups using IRC instead of non-CONVERS servers for local chat rooms?
Bill, WA7NWP
The clients I use (xchat and Limechat) are not totally compatible and you have to set the port number to be used.
So, in my case, I am using CONVERS and fudging the clients to work.

Hi All Convers still running here 15+ years in one form or another since the early stand-a-lone systems we used back in yea early days.
I have used xchat (Windows and Linux)
Mozilla Thunderbird IRC client when testing had it working when I first upgraded gb7cip to ubuntu. Not working on the later release still to be investigated
colrconv client on ubuntu and raspbian
and windows client ttylink.exe. Dxretriver User6 telnet FROM 44net(addresses) to 44.131.244.1 3600
They all do the require task, to enable a conversation
not forgetting connections from a uronode command link which our local Radio RF users call up, using there PaKet62 clients.
As Demetre mentions, lot's of sysops, though 'we' do have regular users drop (from different Continents) over a 24 hour period and hanging about. To meet up with others.
Not used Chrome!
