Brian has been covering the majority of the 'administrative costs' -- there are annual fees that are necessary to maintain the corporation, tax exempt status, etc.
As far as I know, and Brian could fill in, no money goes to any individual, but it takes money to cover these costs.
I'm all for helping out ARDC, but realistically Tom does have a point, it's not a member driven organization. The board appoints the board. There is no election of board members by anyone other than the board members.
The board of directors is 75% non-hams, Brian is the only licensed board member.
Say what you will of the ARRL, but I do get to vote for my director/board representatives.
Also, it would be nice to a have a little money to defray occasional equipment upgrades, even though much of that is supported by donated network and equipment resources.
A public budget and plan would go a long way to making this happen. Running a non-profit asking for donations of quasi-members means there needs to be documentation on the use of funds.
If Brian's in the hole over this, we need to see how much that is and at a minimum have fundraising drive to make it self sufficient.
