You can run the RPi with URONODE and have NET44 gateway as well.
There is a PiTNC available as well. That fits nicely on top of the Pi GPIO pins.

Exactly that running here...tnc-pi
is on aprs...pi running net-44 ripd,
jnos, linux ax25 stack, Brian's excellent uronode, and aprx .. total cpu
usage around 11%!!
debian wheezy 7.2 and latest firmware...
maybe a nice enclosure santa will bring...
