While on the subject..
You can run the RPi with URONODE and have NET44 gateway as well. There is a PiTNC available as well. That fits nicely on top of the Pi GPIO pins.

Exactly that running here...tnc-pi is on aprs...pi running net-44 ripd, jnos, linux ax25 stack, Brian's excellent uronode, and aprx .. total cpu usage around 11%!! debian wheezy 7.2 and latest firmware... maybe a nice enclosure santa will bring...

The encap.txt that I have just ftp's from the portal has grep 44.131.8 encap.txt route addprivate 44.131.8/24 encap 81.129.143.8 So now I am very curious 73 Paul

I downloaded encap.txt directly from https://portal.ampr.org not via ftp site. Therefore I'm sure that in rip44 v2 broadcast from amprgw your route is correct as well.

Hi Paul,
The FTP site is updated once an hour from the database, so worst case any changes on the portal could take 60 minutes to appear on the FTP site. The file you can download from the portal itself is however generated dynamically from the db and therefore is a fully up to date copy of the db.
