John, I think we're all quite familiar with the ARDC "bylaws" which provide
for no community involvement in ARDC affairs. It was this way for years, and
generally somethings worked, eventually, and the conflicts of interest were
ignored. Then ARDC decided to commit one of the largest financial frauds ever
seen in this area. This changed from a do nothing board holding back digital
in amateur radio, to a board committing fraud against the entire community.
Bdale has been active in the amateur digital and
amateur satellite
community since at least the early 80s. (I have had occasion to interact
with him going back into the 80s.)
He has also been in the Open Source community most of that time. He comes
with a good resume:
I know who he is, and frankly I'm sad to see him get involved with this fraud.
Once you take money from ARDC or work with them post fraud, it's all fruit of
the poison tree. ARDC in it's current form, with it's current leadership
cannot lead itself nor be trusted. They cannot deal in an open manner, they
cannot gain consensus, and have a distinct lack of technical competence.
I do understand ARDC leadership has made it known to the coordinators and
others that you either toe the line or GTFO, so I can understand your position.
Thank you,
