Morning All,
Ok, an apology to those who received the 6 month warning, that was my mistake. I only
meant for the 1 month emails to go out but forgot to untick the 6 month ones!
Now, with regards to these emails: First of all DON’T PANIC !!
Nothing bad is going to happen if you don’t login to the portal once a month, nor does
anyone expect you to login every month if you don’t wish to. The email is just a reminder
that the portal is there, so if you do happen to change any of your details you are more
likely to remember the portal and update your details. We all receive the monthly emails
from all the mailing lists we subscribe to, I don’t think it’s asking much to have one
email a month in your inbox, which you can just delete if you don’t wish to read it, but
at least you will have seen it and the portal, therefore, will be more likely to be
remembered if you change your email the following month.
The system is now setup to send emails once a month to anyone who has not logged for at
least one month, if you haven’t logged in for at least 6 months the text of the email is
slightly different, i.e. a bit more suggestive that you login, after 9 months the text
warns you that your account will be de-activated if you continue not to login. After 12
months the email advises you that your account will be de-activated.
So all you have to do is login once a year, as Brian said - not much of an imposition. You
don’t even have to “do” anything except login, then log right back out again if you wish -
there is no “updating” to do - we just need to know you’re still alive and interested in
all things AMPRNet.
If you don’t agree with these timings, or you feel the wording of the emails could be
different, then by all means get involved in the process of developing the portal code. If
you’re not a programmer, no problem - you can help test code, report bugs, write
documentation, suggest improvements, etc.
73,
Chris
