Hello 44net,
In addition to welcoming new board members - Keith Packard (KD7SQG) and Bob McGwier (N4HY) - ARDC is now welcoming applications for 2021 Technical and Grants Advisory Committee members.
I'd like to add that it is the intention of the board to have most of ARDC's work be done by these two committees (and any others we may create). Once things are up and running smoothly (and we're almost there), the board itself would like to step back and play a mostly supervisory and policy-setting role. So these committees will be very important to the day-to-day mission of ARDC.
At the risk of scaring people away, I do want them to know what they're getting into. Reviewing grant proposals, writing comments, discussing them in committee meetings, negotiating with the grantees and following all the nonprofit legal rules can be a lot of work for GAC members. And we take conflicts of interest pretty seriously.
But it's also *very* rewarding to be part of a ham radio philanthropic organization that has never operated on this scale before. ARDC has a thick stack of thank-you letters from recipients of this year's ARRL and FAR scholarships, and reading them makes it all worthwhile. We think ARDC will have a major impact on ham radio's future and you can be a part of it!
