I think most of the Mikrotik deployments I've seen for 44net (or HamWAN) have either been with the RB2011, the newer RB3011, or the RB750 options. I have a CCR1016 and it's way overkill for anything just 44net. Unless you're planning on running a full BGP router and terminating dozens of VPNs you should be fine with any of the other series' CPU and RAM options.
