I'd be interested in testing. Have to check that my links are still up. Has been a while, since I've checked everything out.
Hi Tony,
Look like Thunderbird is the best news reader,
Just use jnos.va2om.ampr.org as news server
but remember it's only accessible from the 44network (ampr.org)

Hmm, I was able to ping your server earlier today, but ran out of time to add a 44net address to my Linux box that runs Thunderbird. Now, I'm unable to ping your server, though routing on my end is working. Still getting through to other 44net hosts. Does your server only run part time? Or has it crashed?
Hi Tony, no the server is up unless I lost my link from ve2pkt.
try to ping ve2pkt.ampr.org, that is my gateway. If this work, try then jnos.va2om.ampr.org or va2om.ampr.org if neither
respond that will mean I lost my link, but as I write this message, it's there and running, I see the traffic.

FYI: Some 8 hours ago it asked for password/login. Was that intended?

Seems to be working. Very slow, but working. I'd probably need to cache articles/read offline, import them into my Syncronet BBS, or find a faster server (for me) to male it usable. But I'll keep playing.

Hi Tony,
you are the first one telling me it is slow. That could be really possible
I have low speed internet, If you do a ping, what is the respond time?

I'm curious if anyone else on the list sees packet loss when pinging va2om.ampr.org
--- va2om.ampr.org ping statistics --- 56 packets transmitted, 37 received, 33.9286% packet loss, time 55394ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 82.730/96.684/137.224/15.305 ms
By contrast I don't see any loss when pinging ve2pkt.ampr.org

I am getting the headers in Thunderbird, but I get timeouts when trying to read some of the messages.

Similar results for me:
--- jnos.va2om.ampr.org ping statistics --- 102 packets transmitted, 81 received, 20.5882% packet loss, time 424ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 250.531/299.731/2197.228/235.113 ms, pipe 3
