Is there some document that gives a modern primer for convers?
What is it? How do I use it? What servers exist? etc etc
I've really struggled to find anything on this online, mostly dead links leading nowhere.

Someone could write it up for the Wiki :-)
BTW I don’t think basing channels on the second octet of the 44 IP address is wise - there are so many allocations that are not country based now, plus there is nothing to stop convers nodes being on non-44 IPs.
