Hi,
As I have heard, it is not allowed for ARDC to create route objects in ARIN's IRR and for that reason, RADb is used.
I am just curious why this is the case?
(It seems in general, creating IRR objects is possible via IRR-online [1])

ARIN members may create objects in their IRR database, ARDC are not ARIN members.
The 44 net address space is legacy address space, but it has to be registered with one of the 5 RIR’s and it just happens to be ARIN. However, we do not have a membership agreement with ARIN, therefore we are not permitted to utilise their IRR database.
We opened an account with RADB and for anyone that is allocated a BGP announced prefix, I can add a route object there. Individuals are also free to use ALTDB or any other IRR database that they may have access to. Some of the larger carriers have their own, and will add your prefix to it on your behalf.

Hi Chris, Hi Falcon,
Thanks. I actually found AltDB already and created an entry.
I was not aware of the intricacies about legacy addresses before formation of the RIR system.
I found this interesting but old article: [1]. Is this the reason? In other words, ARDC did not want to sign the LRSA (which would have implied ownership of 44/8 is not ARDC)? A assume that ARIN assumed "ownership" of 44/8 since it was legacy US.
By the way, independently, [1] makes it sound that generally one can create route objects in any RIR database (except RIPE which allows it only for their own address space). I assume that would require nothing but membership. Is this true? So technically I could get AfriNIC membership (and pay the fees) and create the route object there (even though I am neither African resident, nor the address space is assigned by AfriNIC).
