Returning to the perennial subject of cleaning up the AMPR.Org DNS database, Neil Johnson has done a thorough job of investigating the entries in the current database. He has generated a file available from the gw.ampr.org anonymous FTP server "Hosts-TBD.txt" which lists 2,045 callsign-based entries in the DB where
0. They're in the current AMPR.Org DNS. 1. They're not found in active entries on QRZ.com. 2. They're not found in the online Callbook database. 3. They're not in the portal. 4. They're not in HamNet.de. 5. They were NOT entered into the AMPR.Org DNS after 2011. 6. Or they are listed as expired in QRZ.
This is about 5% of the database. Not a large amount but a definite place to start.
I propose to delete these entries from the AMPR.Org DNS around July 1st. - Brian
Can something be done regarding the format ?
It looks like Unix and there is no LF

Be sure your FTP client is in TEXT mode and it should change the LF only to CRLF as windows requires, during the download.
Or use VIM to view the file; it will adapt automatically. - Brian

Don't log in that way, use anonymous FTP - username is 'ftp' or 'anonymous' and the password is anything at all - traditionally it's your email address.
If you have 'wget', try wget ftp://gw.ampr.org/pub/Hosts-TBD.txt

I had a bit of fun and games in Windows - Firefox wouldn't work, neither did WinSCP in anonymous FTP mode. I resorted to the command line FTP client and first attempts logged in OK, but hung on the "cd" command (i.e. "cd pub"). I succeeded by not changing directories and using the full path in the GET command - i.e.
get pub/Hosts-TBD.txt
Typing ftp://gw.ampr.org/pub/Hosts-TBD.txt in Firefox worked for me.

Yeah, just tried the full URL and it worked for me too. I didn't have the full path handy initially, seems browsing around doesn't work, but full pathnames in the URL or get command does.
That's very strange, it works just fine for me. - Brian

Do your logs show anything out of the ordinary? I used this email address as my "password".

No, your sessions look perfectly normal except that on most of them you didn't download anything.

Very strange, changing directories just wasn't going to work, the GUI clients just hung, the command client got dumped after a couple of minutes and I had to reconnect, but other commands like "ls" and "get" worked perfectly. Similarly, putting the entire URL into Firefox also worked perfectly, so the issue seemed to be related to changing/browsing directories.

Another thing one can do is use unix2dos to convert the file to include CRLF. The reverse tool, dos2unix, is handy for certain things such as converting DOS/WinFBB config files to linux/unix as one example.
How do I get permission ??
