I feel Michael, N6MEF is right. There are a number of folks waiting
for an appliance-like device. Even if it's lower speed. Like I said
as long as it's priced right (about the price of a dual band radio is
reasonable).
While I'd really like to see a couple Mbps, as long as its capable of
doing a gsm audio stream or something like that it will be fun.
Something that will work in my car, with a raspberry Pi attached, to
create my own digital voice thing of sorts, or maybe plug an IP phone
into.
Yes this day in age its sad we will settle for dial-up speeds, but hey
its a start till someone like Bruce Perens takes over the ARRL :-)
I have hemmed and hawed over plunking down the money on something
other than a receive only SDR like the RTL, NooElec, SDRplay stuff
that I have been playing with. But that 5-10 mW out of the BladeRF,
etc really isn't useful to me. We need some low drive amps at a
decent price.
