Is there a good forum to discuss packet, AX.25 and such things? After some 20 years of abstinence from packet I am really interested in getting something going. In my area APRS is alive and well, but packet on VHF or UHF is dead and has been dead for a long time. Lots of equipment is still out there, such as KPC-3 and the like, just not being used.
Although I am very interested in getting packet going again, I have no idea where to start. Got hardware to spare, but where to start? What’s out there for software (OpenBCM, JNOS, BPQ32, what else?)…
I realize that this is probably not the avenue to discuss, but perhaps someone can point me in the right direction of where to start looking, where to ask.
Thanks, Adi

There is an active BPQ32 group on Yahoo Groups - https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/BPQ32/ - it covers Windows and Linux flavours of BPQ.

Hello Adi,
A few ideas for you:
- The LinuxHams list at linuxham@groups.io is also a good place though most of the traffic there is about Fldigi
- The Xastir list at xastir@xastir.org is a very strong APRS group (APRS client side) as is the aprx-software@googlegroups.com APRX group (APRS server focus)
- If you're interested in packet from a Raspberry Pi / SBC perspective, check out the Raspberry_Pi_4-Ham_RADIO@yahoogroups.com list
- There is also the LinuxHam list at linux-hams@vger.kernel.org but it's not very active other than posting / discussing Linux AX.25 kernel patches
There are other lists as well such as BPQ32 (BBS centric), Direwolf (software TNC), TNC-Pi (hardware TNC), JNOS, etc.
