Can we get some tech content please, people? Enough of this rules and politics crap.
After the last round of discussions regarding rules and regs, I was hoping to share some network building ideas. I like the idea there are many ways for everyone to connect, and no right or wrong way. The fact that we can make this all work together is the best way IMHO…..
Here is the link to my network diagram: http://www.hindmarsh.cc/images/WC3XS-AMPRnet.png
I have posted a diagram of my personal setup which is working great. I use a Cisco router as my AmprNet gateway that I have to manually update the routes based on the newest encap file. I will be writing a process to do this automatically, but have not had the time to do so yet. From this setup, I can provide many full mesh DMVPN hosts for anyone wishing to join the network and they do not need worry about the Linux servers, routing updates, and dynamic IP addresses from home based Internet connections. This gives the end user the ability to “use” the network, and not worry about the design. I have also configured the ability for PPTP users to get a single IP address to jump on the network from anywhere, firewall permitting… I have chosen to run OSPF on all routers, giving me the flexibility to add redundant wireless links down the road….
We already have enough network engineers here on the list… hi hi… Lets get some real hams actually using it….
The only thing I am missing is the “radio” part… I would be open to some mountaintop wireless links, but unfortunately, I am isolated in my hobby here, especially on the networking side….
