Anyone know the status of G4APL's node? I haven't seen it on for a couple weeks now.
I can send him a Pmail via Pactor . I was just connected to him an hour ago...

Hi Brian
Using the last encap.txt ftp downloaded 6 July for tunnels, then no further updates since the portal server has gone offline.
If any IP addresses have changed during this period, they will not be updated unless g4apl has been advised. gb7cip has been up since the last reboot for 17 days.
I am just sitting on my hands until all portal services are back to normal.

Yup. We use FTP of encap.txt as well. It was down for a few days due to the fire, but then resumed working again quite a while ago.

There is an issue going on that I see...
Encap.txt shows: route addprivate 44.48.5/29 encap 216.252.58.173 route addprivate 44.48.16/24 encap 216.252.58.173 route addprivate 44.92.35.16/28 encap 107.223.221.1 route addprivate 44.48.6/29 encap 216.252.58.173 route addprivate 44.48.15/29 encap 216.252.58.173 route addprivate 44.48.17/30 encap 216.252.58.173 route addprivate 44.56.6.16/28 encap 8.25.156.142
yet if I look up 44.48.6.1 in RIP, it's defaulting to UCSD.
ip ro get 44.48.6.1 44.48.6.1 via 169.228.66.251 dev tunl0 src 44.98.16.1 cache
It's been like this for about an hour. I didn't think RIP should act like this...
RIP is currently being updated once an hour at 15 minutes past the hour. - Brian

Thanks. The file must have been updated just before RIP generated. Considering how often I'm getting encap.txt updates via email, we may want to consider upping this from 60 to 30 minutes.

FYI the frequency that the updates go out has increased somewhat. The reason being that I had several complaints from folks using dynamic IP addresses at the end of their tunnel. Previously any change in the public IP updated the database but didn't trigger a new encap.txt email, it now does.
Because there are quite a few dynamic gateways the frequency of new IP's appearing is quite high.

While I use ampr-ripd/ripv2 I also have the portal mail me the updated encap.txt so I can keep an eye on rip updates in case someone asks. Perhaps it'd be a good idea to increase rip to follow suit with the dynamics?
hopefully increasing the updates doesn't introduce a load on server?

I agree; the RIP tables now update as often as every 15 minutes.

Hello All
6 Aug 16:44 GB7CIP has had two power cuts this evening, first one discharging the UPS and followed by an second one, Soon after the system came up after the first power cut.
As a result of my remote diagnostics,is would appear an essential peice if security equipment has failed (AWOL).
There is no Internet path to the GB7CIP server from the ADSL router to the Server. Radio Services are still running including HF Pactor

Hello Jerry
Thanks, yes saw your connection on the remote pactor link. Still doing remote diagnostics. drilling down the various interfaces... and log files..
Found an NIC (interface) that is not talking to a critical peice of equipment that appears to be up, on another Interface...
Which is a good sign that is is powered up,, 73 de Paul G4APL GB7CIP
