Hi folks,
Is there a howto available that will tell me how to work the gateways robot?
I am almost done working on the subnet breakdown for NJ (I'm the NJ co-ord) and will be needing to make some changes in order to put the plan into place.
I'll be looking to add hosts to the DNS, change some existing hosts and change the master NJ subnet gateway (currently pointed at my house).
I'm not proposing anything that hasn't already been done before. I'm simply chopping up the subnet into further subnets and allocating them to each of the counties with the "spare" numbers then being available for clever data experiments should there be any.
Ordinarily I'd be doing this via the portal but ......
Thanks
Mark G7LTT/NI2O
Hi Mark,
You fully manage your gateway entries via the web portal at https://portal.ampr.org
If you prefer to use the email robot however, there is a “manage” for it on the portal, after you login just click on “Gateways” then “Robot”.
With regards to DNS, the portal DNS code is currently undergoing testing prior to going live, please feel free to try it out and feedback to me. In the meantime if you want any DNS changes made you will have to email your co-ordinator.
Regards, Chris

Erm .....
I am my co-ordinator! But I don;t know how to make DNS changes.
Also, I'm trying to add a gateway 107.170.126.122 and the page keeps telling me "Invalid gateway IP address".

Hi Mark,
" In the meantime if you want any DNS changes made you will have to email your co-ordinator."
Erm .....
I am my co-ordinator! But I don;t know how to make DNS changes.
I suggest you contact Brian to ascertain how you should make DNS changes, most regional co-ordinators know how to make DNS changes, I’m sure Brian can assist you there.
Also, I'm trying to add a gateway 107.170.126.122 and the page keeps telling me "Invalid gateway IP address”.
That’s because the IP already exists, if you check the list of existing gateways you will see it listed. It’s one of the legacy gateways that was imported from the old system that no-one claimed. Would you like to claim it now?
Regards, Chris
Aha!
Odd that it already exists. I just got this IP about 5 days ago. Its for a hosted server I'm renting for $5 a month.
Yes please, can I claim it. The FQDN for it is mrprosser.g7ltt.com (all my machines are named after characters from HHGTTG). It will be home do hamgatenj.ampr.org/44.64.0.1
My plan is to have the 44.64/16 subnet routed to that machine and then forward it to the county hubs from there. I should also be able to do UDP stuff for those stations that cannot get themselves connected any other way - just like URO used to do.
Brian sent me the clicknology for the DNS. I've already sent it a request and it said it was "processed". Dunno if that means successful so I sent an INFO request for hamgatenj.
Thanks for your help BTW!!

Hi Mark,
The gateway entry didn't have any connected subnets, so I've deleted it, you should be good to add it now without errors.

Nope. Still says Invalid IP address.

If you don’t specify your account when using the robot it defaults to my account as it doesn’t know who you are and has to assign it to someone.
Can you try adding it again via the portal please? According to the logs you tried adding it after you used the robot which is why it rejected it (again), but I’ve turned on debugging and will monitor it for the rest of today. I’ve deleted the robot entry, so if you add it via the portal and it doesn’t work I will be able to see exactly why.
Thanks, Chris
Yep, that worked.
I also added my subnet.
So the only thing remaining is that the portal does not recognise me as the co-ordinator of the New Jersey subnet 44.64.0.0/16 so I can not approve DNS submissions.
Thanks for your help, Chris!!
