Router to a more current model. I'm using a D-Link DIR-615 that I picked up
at a thrift store for $7.00 U.S.. Don't laugh !!!
Ok what would be a choice for a router that would fit the bill !!

XP doesn't have security popups, and it looks like you now have the route added.
According to the review I've seen the D-Link DIR-615 supports a DMZ so it should be good enough. Next thing is to try to get the RIP44 receive working. Have you tried configuring your router with 192.168.1.10 in the DMZ?

Yes I do have 192.168.1.10 set in my DMZ and Yes it is Enabled.

Kind of leaning towards an ISP issue if you put that IP in DMZ...
I do not know.. never had an issue with my Linksys or Buffalo routers and NET44 except for learning curves.. as far as settings..

Though I've really liked DDWRT in the past, that whole community has seemingly fallen apart and trying to follow the documentation/FAQs/updates to understand what images will/won't work will drive you crazy. As such, I generally recommend people to use OpenWRT these days and indeed your Dlink unit is supported (depending on which specific revision of DIR-615 you have):
https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/d-link/dir-615
Once installed and running OpenWRT (or even DDWRT) compared to your stock vendor firmware, it's instantly like you're using a highend enterprise piece of equipment. The richness of features, logging, etc. is very impressive! I encourage everyone to give it a try as it really does breath new life into old equipment (keeps it secure too!).
