Ok what are people actually DOING over their Internet-connected 44 radio net?
VOIP? APRS? Video links? Repeater linking? IP cameras? Remote bases?
Any innovative suggestions?
Steve

It's not 44 net (yet) but it is IP on ax25 Ham packet. We've had a ping session going for almost a month and are getting close to a working wget of a couple hundred bytes of home web page. Awesome eh? :)

I have a IP camera, VOIP (asterisk) server, and a Stratum 1 NTP server on 44/net. Plus some various other network services that are less interesting.

Currently it's on a low burner but convers used to be very active in the local area.

That's a good start. :)
Are these accessible only from 44 net? Nothing, at least not Convers, is working for me here at work.
No Facebook? How about http://elgg.org/ or something like railsSpace

Yes, access only from network 44. Drop me a note if the links will not work within network 44...

Yes, there is: http://hambook.de.ampr.org
Most of the content is in German language. I don't know how to encourage the operators to provide international versions of their websites. Maybe I should tell that there are soooo many international visitors ;) Doing some statistics at the boarder gateway?

That sounds perfect. You're connected to other 44 net stations and others with the VPN. Yet not subject to all the attacks and extra noise on the open internet.

I'm not on 44 net currently so I can't see what you have. Is that elgg?
I was going to ask if you had some sort of Resource Discovery running - then I noticed the HamNetDB so I see that you do. Is HamNetDB pulling the others, getting updated directly (pushed) from other stations or is it monitoring for something like BonJour broadcasts. Very impressive list!
Jann
Thank you for the postings...

Contact me off list and I'll provide access to net44 by our VPN. I don't know what they are using. You need to contact Ralf, DH3WR, in order to find out.

Thank you for the offer Jann, but let me work on it from the other end. It's long past time I had a Radio running on the 44 net side of things. I'll get that going and then be able to freely check out your system...

Hello Bill et al,
With AMPRNet VPN generously offered to us by Hessu OH7LZB anyone can have access to 44-network literally everywhere. Runs flawlessly on XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Linux, Android, Mac. There are some basic and important steps to be performed first.
Quote AMPRNet VPN is an experimental method to access the AMPRNet using a VPN from anywhere on the Internet. The VPN is openly available to any amateur radio operators who have successfully applied for an X.509 certificate from one of the following Certificate Authorities: - ARRL Logbook of the World (LoTW) Unquote

Apparently at the moment above site "is experiencing technical difficulties", thus it's not accessible.
Best regards. Tom - sp2lob
