In the past with Linux kernel 3.2 and 3.16 Recently I switched to kernel 4.9

That was incorrect. The first behaviour was with kernel 3.2 and the 3.16 kernel does not log that long MAC address anymore. The 4.9 kernel is on another system, it is not related to this.
