It has been a long time since I have done any serious networking so am still struggling with getting my head around the instructions for the Edgerouter even after reading Marius's Microtik wiki. Does anyone have a Dummies Guide version of building a new gateway on the Edgerouter X? I have a HamServerPi and HamNet node (Ubiquiti Bullet M2) ready to go and a large group of hams waiting for my setup before they start active involvement in the development of our local HamNet - something we really need in the middle of tornado alley. My thanks in advance. Andy KA5BBC
Same here. I had to rewrite my bricked edgerouter X after trying to build the ampr Gateway on mine.
I like to use jtag to play with devices but the wife was not happy when the whole local net failed 😉
Ordered a new one to have a backup in case I goof again.

I setup a VPS to handle the IPIP mesh, and used OpenVPN to get the routable network to the EdgeRouterX. I think it did require a port forward across a router because the EdgeRouterX's OpenVPN implementation is a bit limited compared to what you can do in a VPS-based OpenVPN implementation.
Using VRF or Policy Based Routing (PBR) plus OpenVPN, one can effectively tunnel 44net addresses and routes over other network infrastructure so that at some point, the local equipment on 44net is using it as a LAN and WAN, rather than deal with all the PBR and VRF needed to route and tunnel at the edge of the network.

I get the email from portal.ampr.org. I paste the link into my browser, and I enter my username, but I keep getting this.
"Sorry, but we were unable to verify your email address, please contact us for more information."
It looks like I get the same confirm link each time, I have no clue what I'm doing wrong here.
Hello Cathryn,
Which URL are you speaking of?

Cathryn,
That would be the URL the portal emails you to confirm your email address, right? I forwarded your message to the portal author and maintainer, who should contact you directly. - Brian
