Although the AMPR web portal is still under development, it would be very helpful if all the AMPR IP Address Coordinators were to please connect to https://portal.ampr.org/ and register their login and password.
In this way we can get the coordinator contact information updated.
Thank you. - Brian

Could anyone registering on https://portal.ampr.org/ that is a country or regional co-ordinator also please drop me an email once you have registered stating the country / region and IP address range you are co-ordinator for, so I can allocate the correct address ranges to you.
Once this initial phase is completed the system will be able to handle future allocations automatically.
Thanks, Chris

hi gang...I have acquired a wyse winterm S10, and a wyse model VXO powerTerm, plus two wyse WT1200LE thin clients, wonder if anyone knows if these can be used for any ham applications, or 44-net stuff in windows embedded or (better still) linux? My reasoning is that they only use a few watts @ 12v, much better than using my laptop. I know they are limited in ability, but could be useful for running rip44d or jnos or (ugh) bpq in windows? Cheers, John
Looks like they have a basic embedded version of XP on them. If you can figure out storage and drivers then maybe.
yes, currently looking at trying linux "rdesktop"... will update if it works...there should be a lot of these coming on the surplus market as they reach e.o.l. Cheers, John

Well, they work better than expected...just install xrdp on the host machine, configure the wyse terminal to rdp connect to the server ip, bingo!! Looks like they support nfs file sharing, so my next project is to try to run programs on the wyse terminal like jnos etc...using nfs... hope this info is useful to someone who might come across these.. Cheers, John

Thin clients normally don't 'run' programs. They're basically graphical display terminals.

normally yes, but with an 800mhz processor, 1 gig ram and add storage, you can do this with them:

Linux
As you would expect from this standard hardware set up I have had no problems running various flavours of linux. For example Tinycore 3.3 works perfectly.
I've also had Tinycore 3.6 booting from a pen drive. I've tried this with a 256MB pen drive and also a 1GB pendrive. In each case I booted Tinycore 3.6 from a CD on another computer and then used the *tc-install* program to create a *USB-ZIP* formatted installation on the pen drives. Obviously you need to set *USB-ZIP* as one of the early boot options in the BIOS.
Lawrence Yau emailed:
"/I also have a couple of the Wyse V90Ls and have successfully installed Debian Linux onto the stock 512mb DOM with room to spare, though I compiled my own stripped down kernel to save space./
/I installed just a base Debian install which takes up around 250mb IIRC. Got rid of a few packages and compiled my own kernel as well as installing FFmpeg and its dependencies and it's still under 200mb. Can easily install X and other applications in the remaining space./"

If anyone got an error when trying to register, please try again now.
The mail server was limited to 100 mails in 24hrs but it reached its limit due to everyone trying to register at once!!
I've upped the limit to 500 so it should be ok now!
Sorry about that, Chris
