Can anyone else get to the portal? It isn't coming up for me.
Hi Brian and all,
It works for me, but the ENCAP.TXT is not being sent anymore, or it is not sent as soon as there are any changes anymore. There must be a problem.

The portal is down for maintenance for a short while, it will be back up in about an hour.
The encap file is still being sent (although not during this hour or so of downtime)

Chris,
The FTP site for the encap.txt remains unreachable and times out. Have you changed any connect parameters ( login or password ) ?

The server was down for maintenance last night (UK time). The plan was that the downtime would be virtually zero, unfortunately best laid plans and all that !!
The work involved a change of IP address onto a new network that supports IPv6 natively, unfortunately the new IP addresses I gave Brian to update the DNS with contained a typo, I had typed 148 instead of 149 into one of the octets. After spending several hours trying to find a none existent network fault I finally spotted the error and I have asked Brian to update the DNS accordingly.
As part of the work we first lowered the TTL for the A records to a few minutes, so once Brian updates the DNS it shouldn't take long to propagate.
Apologies for the inconvenience.

I just verified the DNS responses provided by the ampr.org nameservers:
dig portal.ampr.org +short @ampr.org 195.66.148.110 dig portal.ampr.org +short @munnari.OZ.AU 195.66.148.110 dig portal.ampr.org +short @ns0.comgw.net 195.66.148.110 dig portal.ampr.org +short @hamradio.ucsd.edu 195.66.148.110 dig portal.ampr.org +short @ns2.threshinc.com 195.66.148.110 dig portal.ampr.org +short @ampr-dns.in-berlin.de 195.66.148.110 dig portal.ampr.org +short @ns1.defaultroute.net 195.66.148.110
So it seems the correction from 195.66.148.110 to 195.66.149.110 never went public.

It has now. Remember that there is a seven hour time difference between where Chris lives and where I live, and I have to sleep sometime.
It'll probably be half a hour or so before the secondary nameservers learn the update. - Brian
Brian, I'm not blaming you nor Chris, just wanted to point that from "outside" a DNS update wasn't visible just in case someone was expecting that the update actually had been done already .

Has anyone been successful (today) in downloading the encap.txt file using the FTP portal.ampr.org site?
It times out whenever I attempt to reach the site.

Don, apparently my system is not forwarding to you and several others due to incorrect encap information. My ip changed a few times over the weekend in part because of power outages. However, the portal stays current with my IP and I believe the RIP broadcasts are correct. I have not checked the encap.txt files as I no longer use them for encap information. 73 ~ Ken

As Tom points out, the encap.txt file is fully up to date, indeed it updates in real time the moment any changes are made, either via the portal or the new email robot.
If anyone is still convinced that the file is somehow out of date at any point, please could I ask them to contact me off list and we can work through what the issue is?
Thanks, Chris
