USENET is obsolete. Don't waste your time on it.
Well, not as obsolete as a mailing list... A closed news server would be much more convenient to use for discussions like this than a list... (and of course you could run it on a Raspberry Pi :-)

We are trying to get new hams interested in the hobby. It’s bad enough getting them to understand a mail client. They’d never be able to fathom a Usenet client. Have you ever tried to find a usable Usenet client for the iPhone? (That’s rhetorical. I’ve tried them all. They are all garbage. I’m not looking for suggestions)

Obsolete doesn't mean not interesting. I play with ax25 and that was obsolete by the time I was an adult, pocsag paging, morse code and so on. If people want to usenet let them it doesn't hurt anyone else
