You might add 3.4 GHz and 5.9 GHz to you list of bands. These are worth mentioning because they're [US] ham-only and therefore avoid many common noise sources.

Well, that's part of the answer. But the board has to plug into something. A Microtik, maybe? I've never used one. I went to their website and clicked on a half dozen of their Ethernet Routers. None of them had a mini-PCI slot. Best I can tell, one needs to assemble all the pieces parts, mother board, interfaces, enclosure, etc. That, in turn, means I have to know how much RAM, CPU, etc., I need upfront, without ever having used one before. And I can't find a white paper or other instructions on the website. Jeez. A bit of a chicken and egg situation.
