Subject: Re: [44net] Unable to rsolve host error in the portal
Hi Ronen,
What I am saying is that there are 5 authoritative DNS servers for
ddns.net
<http://ddns.net/> but they are not all updating together, two of their servers do
not hold the A record for your host, so it is
ddns.net <http://ddns.net/> that needs
to sort their servers out and ensure that all their servers update whenever a host is
changed.
It was just “bad luck” that the Portal queried one of the servers that does not have your
hostname.
It was “good luck” that you queried one of the servers that does have your hostname.
Any recursive nameserver will lookup the authoritative name servers for the domain first,
in the case of
ddns.net <http://ddns.net/> there are five, it then selects one of
them (could be any one) and asks it for the A record - if by chance it asks one that does
not hold your record it will get a response that the hostname does not exist.
Regards,
Chris
