Hello Geof and Pedia,
Problem with e-mails rejected by UCSD Edu facilities is due to security policy employed over there. UCSD Edu MTA uses Cisco web site cintaining blaclisted e-mail servers. I do not remember right now link to a/m site but digging Internet you'll find it for sure.
Most probably be you will find your e-mail server listed here!
Last year I had EXACTLY SAME PROBLEM! I contacted Brian Kantor off the list. We exchanged some e-mail infos and generally speaking problem got solved. I would suggest you (Pedja) contact Brian Kantor directly, but send your message from different e-mail server!
