you in fact use 44.4.9.0 to 44.4.9.7 .0 is the network addres of the subnet, .7 is the bradcast address. so you have to use 44.4.9.0/29 or 44.4.9.0/255.255.255.248 routed to your gateway.

Okay, so how to do this? The assigned addresses are 44.4.9.1 through 6. Do I just call each one a separate /32 subnet?
