This is most likely why people ask for address verification in the first place! The whole thing is remarkable in the first place, I'm 36 years on amprnet, have multiple /24 and smaller sub-nets and my ipv4 limit is set to 28. This means that the maximum IPv4 that I can request is a /28 sub-net and that is all because my address is not verified as yet. That is the reason why I don't want that my ticket is dropped.
It seems there is some misinformation, or at least incorrect assumptions, about how the level of trust works on the new portal. Hands up, we have not communicated a lot of specific information about it, so it’s probably not a surprise that folks have come to their own conclusions, allow me to clarify the question over address verifications and Level of trust points:
The LoT points system is just a number, the number doesn’t currently relate directly to any specific “number of IPs allowed” or any other level of access on the portal. As such it is a flexible system that can be applied to specific levels of access, it just hasn’t yet been decided exactly what number maps to what access. The TAC have been working on this and have recently recommended that, at least for now, we adopt a simplified system:
When you first register you must verify your email address before you can do anything except access your own profile and delete your account; If you want access to request IP addresses or the DNS management functions you need to verify your call sign; Anyone can place a request for address space of any type and any size once your call sign has been verified; If you are requesting up to a /25 your request will be approved if you have provided your given name, family name on your profile and have verified your email & call sign; If you are requesting a /24 or larger (including BGP) then you must have also verified your postal address.
So the last point above is why we have decided to remove the several hundred address verification requests that are not related directly to larger / BGP address requests.
