There are some rather troublesome inaccuracies in the Wikipedia article on the AMPRNet. Does anyone on this list have edit privileges on this page so those could be corrected? - Brian

Is this what you're referring to?

If so anyone can edit it, it's wikipedia.

You can look at revision history as well, to determine what was changed and possibly change it back. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=AMPRNet&action=history http://hamradio.ucsd.edu/mailman/listinfo/44net

Ah, I stand corrected; I've updated the entry. The section on 44.128/16 was pointing to an obsolete article that incorrectly gave the impression that that subnet was unroutable like an RFC1918 network, whereas it's really just reserved for testing.
Unfortunately, there's an article on www.eastnetpacket.net that incorrectly states that it *IS* an RFC1918-style network and people outside the AMPRNet are quoting it as justification for using the network AS an unrouted network. - Brian

Where? I've never heard of these guys, are you sure it's not an abandoned site like the http://fadca.info group?
Ironically I ran into one of these Fadca people at a hamfest 3-4 years ago after giving a talk, they wanted to know how they could take over allocating 44.98/16 since it's "rightfully theirs". I kept walking :)

I'm informed that the author of that website has died, so yes, I'd say it's abandoned. If the Wikipedia article hadn't cited it as an authority, it wouldn't matter. - Brian
