Hi,
for those of you running a Packet Radio Link to CB0AFU: It seems it is *not* located in Chile but running a gateway to CB-Radio (through two links to Nodes in CB-Nodes in Austria).
Can you please check in advance before running those links?

I apologize putting this message on the 44net list. It has nothing to do with network44 and I didn't intend to raise a discussion about net44.
I simply don't know a better way to contact the node owners of VE3UIL-7, AE5E-14, CT1ENI-8, G4MKI-8, K9DRH-7, IR2UFV-1, N9PMO-2, N9LYA-7, GB7COW-3 and IV3ONZ-2 in order to tell them about their link to the pirate station.
Maybe there are some OMs on the list who could help to contact the responsible node owners to get them shutting down the internet link (not net44 link) to "CB0AFU".

Hi all,
I've disconnected CB0AFU from my node (IR2UFV-1). He leveraged the AUTOADDMAP feature of BPQ32. I left this option turned on and they configured the AXUDP link toward me. So, with this option the link come up even if you don't configure the link explicitly. Of course, it's not an issue of software...but it's a fault of the SysOp.
Thanks, Marco iw2ohx

I don't see how you can describe a legal CB station operating within the terms of his licence as a pirate. Whether you want to allow a legal CB station to connect to the ham packet network is another issue, but I don't see it as any more of a problem than allowing any Internet email user to send messages into the network, or allow any Internet user to access resources on the 44 net.

Were I running a node, the use of a false callsign to connect would be sufficient grounds for disconnection. "CB 0 AFU" shows just a bit of contempt for the network. AFU indeed. - Brian

Yes, true. CB0AFU has nothing to do with radio at all. It is just something on the Internet. Sorry for the "pirate".

For me it is an issue. As of now I consider the Packet Radio network as a closed amateur radio network and I don't have any legal issues passing traffic e.g. on 23-cm packet radio links.
but I don't see it as any more of a problem than allowing any Internet email user to send messages into the network
And even this is not commonly agreed to be no problem...

We don't allow any Internet user to key up any radio by sending packets to the German allocations of net44.
