Trying to download ftp:// <ftp://<user>:<pw>@amprgw.ucsd.edu/private/encap.txt> <user>:<pw>@amprgw.ucsd.edu/private/encap.txt
but amprgw is refusing connection.
I could swear this worked before.

Uh, not quite.
The ftp server is only available on host gw.ampr.org, not on amprgw.ucsd.edu. And the ftp server doesn't accept anything other than anonymous FTP, which means no username and password. There you will find the ampr.org DNS zone files.
The file you're looking for is available as a web page in the private area on gw.ampr.org. - Brian

Hmm. Then I don't see how it can be used as an alternate to ftp://portal.ampr.org
Existing munge scripts are written such that they don't need a 44 route and so that they download via FTP, both of which don't work with that scenario.

The file is an alternative, but you're right, the retrieval mechanism is rather different, which means you can't just substitute host names in the existing scripts. It won't work for someone who isn't already connected. Oh well. - Brian
