---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: riyaj.reed@gmail.com To: 44net@mailman.ampr.org Cc: Bcc: Date: Fri, 30 Oct 2026 10:00:36 -0000 Subject: [44net] Amino Acids Premix for Feed Market Trends Driving Smarter Animal Nutrition The amino acids premix for feed market is growing as livestock producers look for precise, cost-effective ways to improve animal health and productivity. Premixes combine amino acids with vitamins, minerals, and carriers into a ready-to-blend format, so feed mills can deliver consistent nutrition to poultry, swine, cattle, and aquaculture species.
Demand for essential amino acids such as lysine, methionine, threonine, and tryptophan is a major trend behind this growth. Animals cannot make these nutrients on their own, so balanced supplementation supports growth, immunity, and efficient protein use while reducing dependence on expensive protein meals.
Precision nutrition is reshaping formulation practices. Producers now tailor diets to species, age, and production stage, and premix suppliers offer customized blends that match these requirements. Digital tools and feed analysis software help nutritionists fine-tune ratios and cut waste.
Sustainability is another important trend. Lower crude protein diets supplemented with amino acids reduce nitrogen excretion, which limits ammonia emissions and water pollution. Regulators and large meat buyers increasingly favor suppliers that can show a smaller environmental footprint.
Rising meat consumption keeps the market moving. Population growth, urbanization, and higher incomes in Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Africa are lifting demand for poultry, pork, and fish. This puts pressure on producers to raise output efficiently, and premixes help achieve better feed conversion.
Innovation in production is also notable. Fermentation-based manufacturing, improved encapsulation, and rumen-protected formats are expanding the range of applications, especially for dairy cattle where amino acids must survive digestion to be useful.
Regionally, Asia-Pacific leads in volume thanks to its large livestock sector, while Europe and North America focus on quality, traceability, and sustainability. Brazil and Southeast Asia are emerging as fast-growing centers.
Challenges include raw material price volatility and the need for strict quality control. Even so, the long-term outlook is positive. Suppliers that offer reliable, science-backed, and environmentally responsible premixes will be best placed to capture growth as global protein demand continues to climb.

Using services is quite loosely coupled to the choice of subscribing to a mailing list that discusses them, but Dave's disgruntlement adds juice to what I've been thinking in past months:
Given the low level of traffic on a mailing list that I assume has a large number of subscribers (if not, a large percentage of them sure find it hard to protect their email account!), changing the list to moderated would likely be a net positive to the overall membership, even though it would bring extra work to a few and delay the appearance of messages.
Being part of the moderation team at repeater builder, one thing we have seen is that everyone should be moderated at first, unless very well known by someone in the team, and with time be unmoderated with normal interaction. It filters stuff like this very effeciently

As another member of the RB team, I would concur that on the initial signup, Individual moderation is in order.
If not, putting the list on moderation full time is the best option to prevent spam.
If that's the direction we choose, I'm willing to share message approval / moderation duties.

Hi, a possibly unpopular opinion but given the reduction in traffic here and the apparent desire to migrate to groups.io by ARDC is it more appropriate to suggest that the chances of improving moderation here are slim and maybe it's time to migrate ? :-(

The ARDC lists on Groups.io have less traffic. Let's not put the cart before the horse. If one person needs moderation, the Mailman program just needs a single boxed ticked for their entry. I have been running multiple Mailman lists for nearly 25 years. Why wait for Monday? Easy peasey.

While I do like groups.io as a service, I have issues interacting with it using my usual email account (thanks Google - and before anyone suggests using the web interface, no thanks), which has resulted in me not meaningfully interacting with groups.io for a very long time. :(

I cannot speak for everyone, but as someone who's been lurking for a while (due to amateur radio being on the backburner of hobbies for me), it would not surprise me that the amount of lurkers would be highly disproportionate to the number of active participants. Take a look at the ARDC discord server for example, the amount of weekly users is quite small compared to the server size.
Provided the moderation team is willing to undertake the extra load, I concur with Martin that moderation required for newcomers is a fairly low hanging fruit option.
However whilst the spam is unfortunate, I consider it to be a fact of life whilst on the internet and currently on this list it's not too bothersome.
