I had reached out to the good people at GL.iNet and asked for help getting one of their openWRT routers to run my 44 net assignment. I referred them to the page explaining openWRT setup ( wiki.ampr.org/wiki/Setting_up_a_gateway_on_OpenWRT) and requested they compile an executable for the processor in the router.
Apparently they did it. It will be a bit before I can try to configure it but its a one click installation. It's available to anyone with a GL.iNet router product, just navigate to Applications -> Plugins and Update, then navigate to the R section. I have a screencap of all the dependencies it installed if anyone is interested.
I reached out to them because I've failed on my previous attempts to set up an EdgerouterX for my assignment... I am by no means a network engineer, this is my foray into getting a gateway going. If anyone could confirm this works that would be great. If you're willing to help me get mine going that would be even better.

Tracy,
you will never have an 'one click' solution for this, since the setup needs to be personalized for every gateway.
Have you actually tried to follow the wiki for setting up a gateway on a EdgerouterX? It is as close at it can get to a single click option.

My poor choice of words - but the dependencies are all there as far as the software is concerned. Of course there is config...
I've tried the wiki at the link you noted several times with no avail - probably because of my lack of network skill.
If you feel like giving a novice (at this, I've done a lot of SOHO basic networks) step by step for my allocation, I'd send you a digital beverage for sure! I really want to learn the GL setup, but if I could get the EdgerouterX actually running that would be a treat.

HI Tracy,
Same here. If you are lucky enough to document the steps, I would appreciate it. I have a EdgerouterX as well and would like to get it working.

Hello Marius.
Happy new year to you and yours!!! Stay healthy as long as possible!
One question.
I do have two diferent ISP's with two different static IP addresses.
At the moment, when I need, I switch from one to another by means ot two Isostat type switches with pushbuttons, each one with 4PDT fields.
It is not very convenient, mainly beacuse I have to stop computers ethernet card and re-start again in order to have DNS working properly.
I was thinking to use two 4PDT low voltage minirelays. But do not know if it will work properly.
Are you, by any chance, aware of any inexpensive electronic switch/solution for such setup, please?
Will appreciate very much your possible suggestions.
Best regards.
I am not Marius, but I could maybe offer an advice, you could maybe use a router that can do dual isp by load sharing or fall back by software. the edgerouter-x from ubiquity at about 60$ US will be able to do this

Why not put a router in and have it do automatic fail over?

Why switch? I'm coming into this late so if my assumption about your hardware is incorrect then I apologize.
Can you put a second network adapter in your computer? on the motherboard, USB, etc ... Windows Linux and Mac all support multiple IP addresses on the same computer, even on the same adapter ...

They indeed support 2 ip addresses on the same computer, but 2 different default gateways is problematic unless you know how to play with metrics, and your os uses tables and connection tracking so connections coming in on 1 interface does not leave the other interface.. Linux can do that, I don't know about windows. However, putting a windows computer directly on the internet without private ip addresses is a big NONO security wise.

Hello Tracy, Ruben et al.
That's __PERFECTLY__ pointed out, indeed!!!
Did not even thought of such solution (why???) - thank you very much!
On my multi boot Desktop PC I use Windows and Linux OS'es as well. Depnding on task I need to run...
Between my two ISP's and home LAN I have two separate routers.
Need to re-think what I have and what I can get with this.
Thank you very much for everyone who responded.
Happy New Year to everyone on the list!
Best regards.
Hi Tom,
You got the answers :-)
I am also using a mikrotik router with some policy routing and default gateways with different metrics to achieve automatic fallback.
I have a slow fixed IP which I use mainly for 44net tunneling, and a fast FO access with dynamic IP, automatic Dynamic DNS via the provider and IPv6 for the other things.
