Hi,
I’m interested what people are using 44Net space for…. what do you use yours for (and what size allocation?).
On a related note - there doesn’t seem to be a clear description of what you can and can’t do with it, other than nothing commercial?
Thanks,
Ian
I'm using mine for IP over DVB experimentation. I have a 30 Mbps OFDM modem that I've completed, but it costs an arm and a leg in it's current configuration. Maybe if I can get a grant from ARDC (when they start granting individuals), I'll cost reduce it into something that could be used for ham radio. The full-duplex nature of the modem is nice since you can easily add power amplifiers and preamps. And it works on any band with appropriate up/down converters. The block diagram is here:
I just have a /29 allocation since I'm only transmitting between two rooms in my house.

You can apply for a grant now -- you would need to get a 'fiscal sponsor' which is a 501(c)(3), school, or government entity. Many clubs and organizations meet this requirement -- it just means they receive the funds on your behalf and administer them (you can include a little 'overhead' expense in your grant request to help defray their expense in doing so).

I have 2 x /24 allocations. One is BGP routed and is allocated to a VPS which runs an IRLP/Echolink reflector, a D-STAR reflector and over 150 Echolink proxies - some private, the vast majority public.
The other allocation is currently on the IPIP mesh, and is getting a little testing use. Long term goal is to offer 44Net connectivity to local amateurs through various means over local RF.

In addition to the /20 I manage for IRLP, I have two /23. One is advertised into BGP by my local DC provider. The other is not advertised anywhere. It is isolated, although I do use it for connectivity to my advertised /23.
Point being, that many networks are not Internet connected at all, even though they are in use privately.
