Hi,
Several weeks ago I requested postal address verification via the new portal, however it is still set as new (unassigned). Is there some expected time-span for assignment? I couldn't really find more info on that on this list, so I decided to start this thread.
Thanks, ~ SP6KEK

Interesting -- my address verification ticket was approved (from what I can tell) on the same day.
Slight tangent -- is there a way to view resolved tickets? When I go to Tickets -> View My Tickets there's nothing listed.

It is much easier for the team to verify callsigns and addresses for U.S. domestic people. For some non-US locations it is nearly impossible.
Tickets and any associated documents are completely deleted when they are acted upon. The team is very paranoid of leaving any personally identifiable information laying around in a database somewhere.

Just to clarify, it’s only tickets that potentially involve PII, like address verification, call sign verification, etc that are automatically deleted once completed. The admin handling the ticket has an opportunity to type in how they verified the request which is stored with the LoT entry, e.g. “Matched name and call sign on qrz.com” the point being that no PII is stored once verification is completed.
Other ticket types, e.g. support requests etc are not deleted, in fact admins do not have the capability to delete tickets, only the person that originated (owns) the ticket is able to do that.

During the early discussions about the portal it was mentioned that the way of validation would be like sending a postcard with some number on it to the specified address and then require you to enter that number on a page of the portal to validate your address. Similar to how phone numbers are validated by sending a number via SMS (TEXT) and require you to enter the received number.
I did receive my SMS and my phone number is now validated, but I never received a postcard. My address is OK on QRZ.COM but of course that is not a validation.
It appears that callsign validation is done by requiring to send a scan/photo of the license. That is of course a quite weak validation, as it is not possible to verify that the license is stil valid, and it usually quite easy to photoshop another license. It also takes a lot of man-hours to validate all licenses this way (we have 400 callsigns with IP addresses in our small country alone, and some tests indicate it takes quite some time to get them through the procedure. also the situation is complicated with repeater- and club callsigns).
Another system here that requires "callsign validation" uses a trick via EchoLink: the system has an EchoLink node online, and when you want to verify your callsign you receive a code and you need to connect to that EchoLink node and send the code as a text message. The system can thus verify that you have a validated callsign at EchoLink (which has the same problems as described above, but when you have already gone through it, at least the validation at that system is instaneous).

Address verification is not a priority unless there is a need for it, so basically if you’re requesting some BGP address space then you do need your postal address verified, otherwise there is no need unless you want to - the latter cases will be processed at some point in the future, but it’s not a priority as it’s not blocking anything.

Hello all, Chris,
Does somebody know how the Postal Address is being verified?
I'm having a BGP request opened since ~1 month ago and I know that we're stuck in the "Postal Address Verification".
I tried to search on the KB/Wiki, but I didn't find something relevant (like some steps).
Hi Razvan,
Your request is not stuck on postal address verification, there were some other issues that I asked you about, I can see that you responded a couple of weeks ago so you will get a reply soon, we are processing tickets in order of oldest first, so it is fair to everyone. BGP requests can take weeks to process so please can I ask you to be patient a little longer and we will get there.

Hello Chris,
Thanks a lot for your response! Acknowledged.
Yes, I'm going to wait until the moment :). I just wanted to see if the Postal Verification it's a long-process since here in Romania, our Postal Services are a complete mess. We're receiving International Mail with a 2-3 month delay.
I completely agree, we must wait until each turn, I was going through all the emails this week and saw Lynwood's post about the 20 tickets that he has opened. I just wanted to say that I only have 2, and the same sittuation, so we just have to wait :).
Have a great Sunday ahead y'all.
I'm not seeing a way to denote that my address verification request is in pursuit of a BGP allotment. Is there some way to do that? I've had my address verification ticket pending unassigned since April 6, and don't have enough LoT points to even attempt to put in a BGP allotment request (or at least I couldn't the last time I tried, there could have been a change recently to that flow). I had previously been under the assumption that address verification hadn't started yet, so I'd been sorta just patiently waiting my turn.
I know everyone on the AMPR side is super busy, and my request isn't urgent, just wondering.

Hi Thomas,
Address verifications are being prioritised for BGP requests, if you haven’t put in a request for BGP address space yet that’s why your address verification will not have been processed. If you are after BGP address space then by all means place a request.

Is there some expected time-span for assignment? I couldn't really find more info on that on this list, so I decided to start this thread. Interesting -- my address verification ticket was approved (from what I can tell) on the same day. Slight tangent -- is there a way to view resolved tickets? When I go to Tickets -> View My Tickets there's nothing listed. 73, Cara KC1KZT _______________________________________________ 44net mailing list -- 44net@mailman.ampr.org mailto:44net@mailman.ampr.org To unsubscribe send an email to 44net-leave@mailman.ampr.org mailto:44net-leave@mailman.ampr.org _______________________________________________ 44net mailing list -- 44net@mailman.ampr.org mailto:44net@mailman.ampr.org To unsubscribe send an email to 44net-leave@mailman.ampr.org mailto:44net-leave@mailman.ampr.org

Have a great Sunday ahead y'all.

if you haven’t put in a request for BGP address space yet that’s why
your address verification will not have been processed
but don't you have to first get the address verified before you can even emplace a request for BGP space?
otherwise I get *Please verify your postal address in your profile before requesting address space.*
that's why I first got created the address verification ticket by the system.
