I've hear some people mention IPv6. I've said before "closed mouths don't get fed"...
Maybe we can again ask for an IPv6 allocation to be given to us???

I'm thrilled to introduce y'all to ARDC employee #2: Chelsea Párraga!
Chelsea comes from a family full of hams, as well as a background in
both fundraising and grantmaking - most recently at History Colorado. In
addition to being well-versed in all things grantmaking, she also loves
learning and has even done some experimenting with a Raspberry Pi.
She's been with us for a couple of weeks now and has definitely hit the
ground running!

Hi,
I’m interested what people are using 44Net space for…. what do you use
yours for (and what size allocation?).
On a related note - there doesn’t seem to be a clear description of what
you can and can’t do with it, other than nothing commercial?

Hi,
I have a 44net/AMPRnet allocation that had the appropriate paperwork done
with Brian Kantor before he passed. This subnet has been delegated to me
for a few years and I am using a VPS provider to advertise it via BGP so
that it is accessible on the public Internet.
My provider is selling to another company that is unlikely to continue this
arrangement. Also, it seems my five-year contract has expired so it needs
renewing anyway. :)
Who is handling this documentation now? I'd like to arrange updated
documentation so that I can get whatever new provider to sign on.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions for providers with data centres in
Canada (or with low latency to prairie Canada, at least), I'm all ears. I
have found a prospect in Toronto and am waiting to hear back, but it is far
from definite.

a few weeks ago somone linked to a really good youtube video on setting
up a vm as a bgp router with bird and open vpn.
now I cant find the post, the video or the link. could someone please
repost this or at least send me the link. I want to get 44.18.28/22
routed as I have a network which it was ontained for now needing built.
bgp is working TO my vm at vultr but I need to get the vpn side working
out to the sites.

I thought you may find it interesting to read, and it also includes a map of the entire IPv4 and IPv6 Internet as a bonus so you can compare our usage to other parts of it.
A note is that currently Germany's 44.148/15 already has very similar utilization to that of one of the most dense networks, 185/8 (comparison with 185.148/15): https://blog.daknob.net/content/images/2021/05/44-de-185-eu.png <https://blog.daknob.net/content/images/2021/05/44-de-185-eu.png> . According to the ping data, HAMNET accounts for over 75% of the hosts alive during the measurement, so that's a great example of what is possible for the entire network!
I'll be happy to hear any thoughts and comments you may have on the topic.

Hi all.
Just got a notice from our network person that he'd received an email
from Chris notifying him of a renumbering of our allocated segments.
Since I couldn't remember a discussion here (please excuse me if this
has been discussed before), I just wanted to raise a few question - out
of curiosity.
We currently have a few /24 allocations within the 44.141.0.0/16
regional block (Norway). I think two or three of the /24 blocks are
published via BGP.
In the email, we're requested to renumber, and move the BGP announced
segments over to the 44.31.0.0/16 (in the US regional /9 block). I
don't think we've heard anything about the other addresses in
44.141.0.0/16 which are not BGP announced?
I guess I'm curious about the rationale behind this decision? I think
efficiency was stated, but I really can't see any big difference in
having a /24 announced either here or there? Since we don't have the
same upstream providers as our neighboring nets, there won't be any
aggregation benefits (?).
Is the plan to also deprecate the national and regional allocations?
For our part, quite a few of the devices with 44-addresses are on
mountain tops (beacons, remote receivers, sensors, etc.), but we have a
4 month window, starting in a months time, to get up there and do the
renumbering. No big deal..
Just curious what the thoughts are..
